MANDT field is basically for client dependency. If you do not include it in your tableas primary key, then it becomes client independent.

Hi Vishaal,
There is no rule that a table should have mandt field . That field makes the table as client-dependent that's all.
So the answer to ur question is client-independent and not mandatory.
