Hi Experts,

We have few OSS Notes related to Archiving. Is there any thing specifically mentioned in the note about the type of implementation(Manual or Automatic). I mean ,how do we know whether a note should be implemented manually or automatically ,or both the ways.Generally if it is manual we should require an access key for manual implementation if automatic is not possible. Please correct me if i am wrong. Please suggest

Best Regards,

Lakshman

Hi,

please look at the item SOLUTION in the SAP note (immediately before the header data).

There you can find all actions to do, actions before SNOTE, actions after SNOTE, ...

But there are more problems if your notes need other related notes, which will be downloaded automatically.

Look into all of them before implementing the SAP notes for manual actions!

Regards,

Klaus

Hi Klaus,

Thanks for the helpful information. But is there anything in the note which says about its implementation type like manual or automatic.

Hi,

Some notes can be even both: manual and automatic. You can identify if a note needs manual implementation because it will be detailed in the Solution section. For example, have a look at SAP note 1519384, there you can see that in the Solution section, SAP clearly explains the manual pre-implementation steps depending on the software component and release, after completing these manual steps you can go to transaction SNOTE and automatically implement the rest of actions for this note.

Hope this helps.

Hi Klaus Babl,

I am in a process to automate the manual implementation of OSS Notes. I am looking for an expert suggestions to proceed further on this whether it is possible or not.

I do understand that SAP will implement the manual corrections automatically during the service pack upgrades. It is giving me hope that automation of the manual implementation of OSS Notes.

Please suggest on this.

Thanks,

Thanks a ton guys

Hi David,

I understood your explanation.Genarally a pure manually implemented note means its corrections will be delivered under the solution section and it won't contain any correction instructions in the note itself.Generally a automated note when downloaded thru SAP comes with correction instructions means that SAP clearly knows what changes to do thru automatic implementation

Manual can be possible for evrything but requires an SSCR key which is not suggestible unless SAP really suggests it.

Thank you
