Hi All,
I was doing some change in an existing program. I added a new field in the internal table and was expecting the field to come up in the output ALV. But I was surprised to see that FM 'REUSE_ALV_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE' was not updating the field catalog with the new field although it shifted the next field (next to the new field in the sequence of fields while declaration) by one column. Like I added the field at 26th position in the internal table and when I see in the field catalog it shows field positioned at 25th and 27th position skipping the new field which is very surprising.
Although I know I can manually make an entry in the field catalog with column = 26 and field attributes but still I want to know the reason.
Have anyone come across such weird situation?
Thanks,
Bhaskar

Hi Bhaskar ,
Kindly use the parameter I_BYPASSING_BUFFER , in the FM , pass the value X .
Ans see if the catalog is created properly.

Hi ,
Is the object define in the same way as the other objects in the internal table , using LIKE .
If yes , one option can be to active the program , logoff , login and try to execute the program again , so that the buffer in teh system gets cleared.
Please revert back in case this also dones not help.

I already tried logging off and then execute the program but this doesn't solve the problem.....

I tried using LIKE and TYPE both. But none of them is working.

hi
r u using grid or list display .
You have sufficient length for all fields .
do one thing comment the population of fields after the field which u added again .
and check the o/p is coming correct or not .
because if we give fcat-col_pos = <number > it should work at any cost .
and have u appended all fields to field catalog .
check the appending values and length once .

Hi,
check whether the database table or the structure which you specify has the 26th Field or not.
And the structure and internal table should be in same order and fields should be of same data types.
If you are sure about it, then definitely output should come.
Else please show the code. Which could help you and others to learn something to a greater extent.
Best Regards,
Suresh
