Purpose of function modules

hai,

Suppose a requirement is given and there is a need to find a Function module which can do that.

Please let me know about any doucument which explains the purpose of built-in function modules.

Look into the following Link.

You see all the function module in SAP from transaction SE37. In SE37 Put * in Function module name and press f4. It will give you a list of limited no of Function module names. To see a full list press new selection at the bottom of popup and then put * in Func module name and press enter. But this is a huge list.

I would suggest to search by using wild card search. eg. if you need FM for popup put POPUP In FM name field and press F4.

I am looking at functionality of each FM like

CONVERSION_EXIT_KONPD_OUTPUT used for some conversion.

REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY used for some ALV reports

WS_UPLOAD used to upload flat file data to Internal table....

like this is there any document which can explain specific usage of each FM.

Many (but not all) FMs have documentation. Simply press the "function module documentation" button in SE37.

I believe that the purpose of FM is "miniaturization" and object use and re-use.

Hi Sairam,

All the FM will not have documentation available. Only those FM which are released by SAP for usage will have a complete documentation. Few more will have partial or specific documentation.

Are you looking for only the description/usage or the full documentation on how to use a particular FM?

I have a list of 437 FM and their description, if you need that just send me your email id and I can send it to you.

I dont want to copy paste it here and make this reply go pages.
