Project management- Interface Implementation

Hi

I have been asked to draw up a schedule for Interfacing a legacy sytem and SAP.

we have decided to use BAPI's and Rfc's for the purpose. we have a java team working the other end. I am an abaper, but assigned this task ( Team lead needs a break!). We have already gone live.

Can anyone suggest the major mile stones in this task and experience of such projects. How to divide the work with other abapers? anyone with a timeline please throw some light.
