make sure that the system number is 00 (have you installed j2ee engine as well in the same machine)
did you link your computer name to ip in the
windows/system/drivers/etc/hosts file
you should have a entry in the host file like below
shahbaz 10.10.0.10 (this ip address is the one given during loop back adapter installation/configuration)

Hi Sikander,
Try giving IP address in Application server field instead of computer name. It should work.
Otherwise check ur LAN is connected properly or System ID is correctly specified.

Thanks Ankur,
I tried 127.0.0.1 and it did not work. Should i use 10.10.0.10 instead?

Hi Sikander,
as mentioned by Raja, you need to look in <b>C:/windows/system/drivers/etc/hosts file</b> and check the hosts file in that you need to maintain the host ip,
if not do that and check..
for Quick solution contact basis guys.

as per the installation guide you should have given 10.10.0.10 during MS loopback adapter and you should use this IP either in the hosts file or directly in the logon pad in place of application server name.
may copy paste your hosts file contents.

also check from SAP MMC whether NSP node is in green color. (meaning the server is up and running)

Hi sikander,
In sap logon enter the following properties for
Application server: IP address
SAP system: R/3
System Number: 00
Before you logon from SAP GUI
You must start the server.

Hi Sikander,
Follow these steps to know whether the server is running correctly or not...
Try to ping to the server...
1. Press "Windows Button + R" to open the Run Window.
2. Type "CMD" in the Run window.
3. This will open the ms-dos window.
4. Type "ping shahbaz<Press Enter>".
5. If your computer is reponding correctly. Then the server is
running fine.
Hope it helps...
