My customer is considering purchasing a printer.

Is there any way to check in advance that SAP can output SmartForms without problems?

It's not specific to Smartforms or any output functionality. SAP has the lists of approved printer vendors and printer models that are supported. This information can be found on SAP Support portal. Typically there are SAP notes with vendor-specific information. Search in the Support Launchpad (S-ID is required): https://launchpad.support.sap.com/

Any Basis admin should be aware of this, so I'd suggest to reach out to yours.

You could either

  • Update the Device Type Selection Wizard data according to SAP Note 1036961.Then look at supporte vendor/model with the wizard from SPAD
  • Look at vendor Device Type Directory (online)
  • Browse vendor specific notes listed in note 1097990
