No screen elements on Screen Painter

When I go into the screen painter layout on this particular ECC 5.0, I do not see the screen elements that appear on the left. I am not able to add any controls.

On the utilities->settings->screen painter menu the Graphical screen editor option is checked. I would appreciate any response in getting this working? Is this a security issue?

Well the same GUI works fine with another ECC system when I open the screen painter. So, I don't think it is a GUI issue.

I don't think there can be any other source of problem for this issue.

I was having the same problem, and I'm using ECC 6.0.

Reinstalling SAP GUI solved my problem.

I searched and found out on sdn that there were others who faced this screen painter issue before. No solution was given to those earlier posts.

If there is any ABAP guru here, I would request them to answer this question.

ok, I installed the latest patch release 6 for GUI 710. Now when I go to the screen painter I still do not see the screen elements. But, there is a message on the bottom now saying, "No RFC authorization for user"

Any clues?
