No ABAP syntax highlighting in Java SAPGUI 7.50 on Mac

Hello everyone,

I'm totally new to ABAP, I just started working through a book. My Problem is I have no syntax highlighting.

I'm on Mac OS and I tried using SAP Gui 7.30; 7.40 and 7.50 and on none of them I have syntax highlighting.

I tried googling and some people suggest to open the ABAP Options in the bottom right corner of the editor but I don't have any button on my bottom right corner. The only thing I managed to do was to go Utilities -> Settings -> ABAP Editor but I couldn't find anything there for Syntax highlighting

You have to switch to so-called "new ABAP editor" in SE38. But I am afraid JAVA GUI does not support it?
So the workaround (recommended for developers anyway) is ABAP Development Tools (Eclipse IDE).

Can confirm that new editor doesn't work in Java GUI (any version), unfortunately. We have several developers using Macs and they either have to use Eclipse or are stuck with the old editor.

Same question here. Yes Eclipse is good but I think sometimes it is SAP Logon really helps with Tables / Gateway service. Can anyone help here?
