Hello Friendz,
I modified an SAP standard program using modification assistant. If during upgrade still there are chances that this program will be overwritten then what exactly the function of modification assistant. And is there any way, how can we save our modification to be overwritten?

Duri ng the Upgrade, you will be prompted via Tcode SPAU, whether you would like to retain your Modifications or 'reset' to original.

Hi,
If an upgrade has effect on your modifications, you will get SPAU.
Check http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/c8/61ec66e33611d1954b0000e82de14a/frameset.htm for details

Hi,
When you start SPAU, you can get of all modification where the upgrade has effect on. You can also refine it on eg user level.

You can use the TCode SE95 (at any point of time, not necessarily during an upgrade) to get a list of modifications in the system..

Hi,
If I have modified anything without modification assistant, e.g. structure, would we still able to preserve modification during upgrade?
If yes, then what exactly is the use of modification assistant because we can do the same thing without that?

NO. Your changes will be overwritten by SAP
If you use Modification Assistant, you will have the option to retain/reset the changes using SPAU.
Otherwise, you will have to manually track your changes.
