*MARA is just used as a structure within some standard programs. It keeps track of what is changed etc. There is no *MARA table in the Dictionary.

Nothing, they refer to the same. If your using these in a TABLES statement, these are nothing more than defining two work areas which have the same structure, and the structure is MARA.
