You use this statement to introduce a report. You can use the optional additions to define some characteristics of the report. Use NO STANDARD PAGE HEADING to switch off output of the standard page header. Use the LINE-SIZE addition to define the list width in characters. The maximum number of characters is 255. If you do not use this addition, the system uses the current window size, when it runs the report, to define the page width. In some cases this can affect the list’s structure! You use LINE-COUNT to specify the page length and the area to be reserved for any footers. The default value for footers is 0. If you also do not define the page length, the NEW-PAGE command is the only way of triggering page breaks. If you want the system to output messages in the report, you can use MESSAGE-ID to set the name of the message class that is required for the simplified form of the MESSAGE command. You only need to use the DEFINING DATABASE addition in the access programs of a logical database. As these programs are generated automatically, you do not usually have to program this addition manually.
Maximum line size is 1023 and you can only print upto 255 characters.
