Hello experts,

We are performing an assesment of the BW installation for one of our customers, in the review we detected the following configuration.

- BW ABAP Stack:

Netweaver 7.0 Enhancement Package 1 SP 7.

Non-Unicode SAP Kernel patch 94

- BW Java Stack

Netweaver 7.0 Enhacement Package 1 SP 7

Unicode SAP Kernel patch 94

Do you know if could it be any problem related to the kernel installation? These folks installed the ABAP stack using Non-unicode kernel and the Java stack using Unicode SAP Kernel.

Thanks for your help,

Kind regards

Hi,

all new installations should be installed as Unicode systems. This should be ensured by using the latest installation package.

OK Nils thank you, do you know of any problem with installations as the one described? I mean BW ABAP Non-Unicode kernel and Java Unicode kernel in independent boxes?

Thanks

Hi,

please have a look at SAP note 1322715 --> points 5 and 6.

In most cases it will technically work (using US7ASCII characters only) with "old solutions", but there will be restrictions for new functionality.
