inconsistent idoc numbering

Hi all,

I have a problem here, when i monitor the idoc i can see the idoc numbering is inconsistent i.e. if 2006/10/01 @ 1.30 pm i have an idoc # 100, i found another idoc# 101 for the date 2006/09/01. How is this possible?. This is not only happening across two different dates but within same day and different time. Can anyone let me know what could be the cause? i believe the idoc numbering is sequential and time bound.

Ganesh,

IDOC numbering is done through transaction OYSN.

Normally, nobody touches IDOC number ranges and leave it as such.

If you have two clients in different time zones, then may be what you are seeing is possible.

DO you have any IDOC that has a difference of greater than 1 Day?

Ganesh,

We have all the clients in the same timezone..would there be any other reason..does idoc number range buffering has anything to do with this scenario.
