Generally ALE/IDOC is used for roll-out projects. It does not mean that it is not used in other projects but in Roll out it should be used.

scenario would be like this, roll out means, company has done implemntation in one country and want to do the same in another country . then instead of doing implementation in the other country again, we can do it by sending the data of the master tables and other tables by using ALE/IDOC.
