hi experts,

iam working on IDOC,how to upload legacy system to IDOC, one of my friend told me that by using third party tool like MERCATOR we can upload the legacy system, if it correct how can i use it.

Hi,

when we for EDI then only third party tool comes into picture..Mercator ,gentron are the thirdparty tools.

SAP(R/3) ->Middleware(mercator)->Legacy system.

when we send idoc from R/3 to middleware it will convert that to some xml file and send to legacy system.This is called outbound.

similarly from legacy system data comes as file to middleware which converts it to idoc file by the middleware and then that file can be uploaded to SAP R/3.This is called inbound..

But for ALE we generally don' use third party tools.
