What is IDoc Interface exactly?

Idoc interface is nothing but type of uploading the data from 3rd party into SAP through IDOCs. IDOC is nothing but collection of segments, segment is collection of fields. So totally IDOC contans the data. Suppose if u run the t-code VA01 some user exits will be processed and accrding to that code IDOCS will be hitted by that exit and posted to sap.

What are the elements which make it up?

For this we need some elements make it out.

segments and message types and idocs.
