I am very new to idoc concept, only thing i know is that idoc is like a structure
which act as data carrier from source system to target system and vice versa,
now i have a question , let take that i am creating orders from the data which i have recevied from an external system , i have mapped these to message type
'ORDERS05' with some programming logic and created an idoc using IDOC_WRITE_AND_START_INBOUND . so my first question is wether
sap will create an Order once these function module get executed or it will simply
write these to a database ,if it's writing these to database and processing it ,then
definitely these records are mapped to bapi or anything and order get created, now if i go for idoc which i have created myself then how posting will happen?

Hi Sanju,
FM IDOC_WRITE_AND_START_INBOUND will both write to the database and create Sales Order when you check the commit option in the above FM or else if the commit option is space, it will simply only write to the database.
Actually, if the commit option is checked in the FM IDOC_WRITE_AND_START_INBOUND then internally IDOC_START_INBOUND FM is called to write to the application.

Vikram

yes it is anwered ,but can u tell me the scenario where we need to create
are own idoc structure then in such scenario how posting is generally done

Hi,
You might have to create own data structure for the custom idoc if there is no idoc type available for your specific requirement or if the inbound data is coming from a file. It depends on the scenario and whether there is a idoc type to match or else you have to create your custom idoc type.
Coming to your 2nd Q., how the scenario will be implemented:
You need to create a Inbound process code which will have an assosciated function module to process the idoc data. Check tcode <b>WE42</b> for reference.
You can also use FM IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS which will write data to the database as well as to the application.
Cheers,
Vikram
