Finding an Error Message in logic?

I usually go to SE91 and do a "where used" on the message. However, sometimes it does not find anything.

Does anybody have another good way to track down error messages and where they live?

hi tom ,

goto the table nast then you will under stand the fields of a message type , status and every thing abt the messages.

or u can go to tcode se91 and give the message no or message class .

Hi Tom,

First we have to check from which message id error message is showing after that got o SE91 and give the message id name and then search the message no which is showing the message.
