Fiedcatalog & deep structures

Hello! Good day to you all!

I'm a begginer to the whole SAP R/3 system... and I have a question related to so-caled deep structures. Have I got an opportunity to describe a deep structure in fiedcatalog like I can do for a simple field?

Like...

ls_fieldcat-fieldname = 'O_TAB'.

where o_tab is an internal table...

P.S. Will be pleased with any suggested ideas and advices.. 😃

Hi Anton,

Because you are using a Fieldcatalog I am going to assume you are using ALV Reports (ie REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY or CL_GUI_ALV_GRID). Unfortunately I don't think ALV allows for "deep" tables.

If you are trying to display a "Header" and "Item" ALV Report (eg Sales Order Header - VBAK and Sales Order Item - VBAP) you can use FM REUSE_ALV_HIERSEQ_LIST_DISPLAY, where you can pass in 2 internal tables, one containing the Header Data (eg VBAK) and another table containing the Item Data (eg VBAP).

If you to pass the value of a deep structure...You can do the following...


LOOP AT TABLE-DEEP INTO NEW_TAB.
MY_TAB = NEW_TAB-VALUE.
APPEND MY_TAB.
ENDLOOP.

Now...In MY_TAB you got all the values of the DEEP structure field.

But still it's not what I'm looking for. It's my fault, I should have written down a purpose of this operation.

I'm processing a dynamic internal table, which I created using method 'create_dynamic_table'. This method creates my table using its field catalog structure. Now, I want to colour some individual cells, and to do this I must add a special structure to my dynamic table. The trouble is in description of this structure in field catalog - it always becomes a flat structure... So... I just want to know if there are any solutions to my problem... And if there are - how to... 😃
