I've looked through the forums, but haven't found anything to address this particular settings issue with the abap editor. I apologize if this thread is in the wrong space.
What I'm looking for is a way to change the colors of the actual editor. When coding, I often can't tell if I'm in display mode or edit mode because there isn't enough of a difference between edit mode's white background and display mode's grey background. Even in high contrast mode, the actual code editing pane doesn't change colors. So you get black screen elements for everything except code and it is completely useless.

Hi anonymous,
at the lower right bottom, you have a customization icon.
Click it, select fonts and colors
Then scroll down in the Display items to Read-only mode, chose appropriate color and save.
If this does not help, consult your ophthalmologist 🙂
Note: The setting is stored locally on the machine where the editor is used for the current user.
Regards,
Clemens

That is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you! Double points if possible.

Thank you. Double points don't work. But first mark as helpful, then as solution makes 150% points
