<b>UN/EDIFACT (United Nations <u>EDI</u> <u>F</u>or <u>A</u>dministratiion, <u>C</u>ommerce, and <u>T</u>ransport)</b> was formed in 1985, using the ANSI X12 and UNTDI (UNITED NATIONS TRADE DATA INTERCHANGE) as the base standards.
The purpose was t develop an international standard to meet the needs of a global economy. Most companies are moving towards adopting EDIFACT because of its international recognition.
