What are the settings we need to do here for :

Hi,

SM59 and WE21 is required when you are communicating between different R/3 servers or SAP environment.

SM59 for RFC connction between servers.

WE21 ports for connection between servers.

If you are communicating with NON SAP then you don't need these settings.

Hi Wasim

As far as I believe we require those 2 transactions .

We have a translator(Subsystem) which converts Idocs to EDI format .So we need port and RFC's to trigger this idoc from R/3 to Subsystem .

Thanks ,

Hi ,

You have to set

Message type - we81

IDOCtype - we30

Process code - we42/we41

Partner profile - we20

Port - we21

Distribution model - BD64

Hi Arun ,

Thanks for the quick reply . I Understand that these transactions are used for configuration but I wanted to know which settings are done at WE21 . Which config. comes first ? ( SM59 or WE21 ) .

Also wanted to know the basic difference between RFC and Port .

Thanks ,

Shounak M.

Hi Shounak,

In We20 File port has to be set.

RFC - enables Connection between any two systems

Port - For sending and receiving the IDOC.

Arun

Hi Shounak,

The Port entry (WE21) requires a RFC entry (SM59), so that must be done first. Do in the following order:

SM59 - create connection to the EDI (or other external subsystem)

WE21 - tie the port to the rfc

WE20 - tie the partner profile outbound message to the port

hope this helps
