EDI and mapping specification

Hi SAP expertise,

I had test the EDI connection between my company SAP system with another simulated client SAP system and is wokring fine.

Now i need to prepare the mapping specification. any idea how to proceed ?

i never do EDI before...need your helps here

Hi,

First of all you need to which interface you want to do with EDI, then decide on the message format and version.

Then you need to decide what fields you are going to send what fields your partner is expecting. You need to decide on the way of communication ie either, through FTP, SFTP, HTTP , HTTPS or by any other means of transmission.

Hi

We had configured the message type, partner profile and those necessary configure.

My colleague decide to use FTP server to do EDI transmission.

The situation is , my site SAP send out XML file (which generate from IDOC) and then FTP in a server and vendor will come and pick the file.

Now i need to generate XML file from IDOC to a physical directory, I try to cant find related SAP EDI guide on doing this. Can help ?? Thanks a lot in advance.

Hello

If you are talking about "EDI" between SAP systems you probably want to connect the two SAP systems via ALE. In this case the message format would be IDoc.

Example: You have a distribution company (A) which sells products of the production company (B). (A) sends purchase order IDocs (ORDERS05) to (B). (B) processes these IDocs and creates sales orders in its SAP system.

If this is you scenario you need to do the required ALE / IDoc customizing (WE21 = ports, WE20 = partner profiles, BD64 = distribution models). If there are changes required between the ORDERS05 IDoc sent and the ORDERS05 IDoc received you may need to activate user-exits in IDoc processing (e.g. function group XVED).

Alternatively, if you connect the two SAP systems via SAP-XI you can do the mapping on SAP-XI.

I not going to use ALE. As this is between SAP and external vendor WMS system . They are not SAP.
