Hi Experts,

A quick question on current ABAP strategy.

Currently, we are moving forward implementing Eclipse ADT right now as main IDE at the company I work.

However, there are some people mentioning there is a web based ABAP IDE currently begin developed that will replace Eclipse ADT as the main tool. Could you clarify if this is real? as it might impact our current strategy.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards.

For on-premise ABAP development, Eclipse IDE is the current way to go.

For SAPUI5 or cloud development, SAP Web IDE is the current way to go. It can be used on the cloud or installed locally; depends on your infrastructure.

Even for SAP Cloud Platform ABAP Environment (a.k.a. Steampunk), Eclipse is the IDE of choice for ABAP. In fact, it is the only choice in the cloud environment.
