double-click on text in dialog programming

Hi,

I have a screen on which I have created a TEXT button and I want to respond it to double click event.

I have selected the attribute 'Respond to Double click' and in the GUI status under F2 put the code 'PICK' and changed in the PAI logic of the program to process certain steps if 'ok-code = 'PICK'.

and it is working fine, when I double click the text button, the ok_code is 'PICK' and the req. steps are carried out. But the problem is, when I single click on the text button also, ok_code is becoming 'PICK' and the same steps are carried out. I want the text button to respond only to double click event not single click.

Pls. let me know how do I achieve it.

Hi Priya,

Please note the purpose of each of the UI elements.

Buttons always respond to single click only in any environment you are working in. May be it is VB, Java, SAP or any thing else.

only input field and some others may respond to double click.

i hope this message is very clear to you.

Hi Ramachander,

Pushbuttons respond to single click and input and text fields and someothers respond to double click. This is right.

My question is,

I created a text button and it is responding to double click.. and it is responding to single click also with the same ok_code. I am not able to distinguish whether the event is single click or double click in the program as the ok_code is same 'PICK' for both.

Hi Priya,

To best of my knowledge it is not responding to double click, it it responding to your first click only, then you continue clicking the second time by that time the control goes back to application server withinn which time no user actions are accepted until the control passes back to the presentaion server.

that is why we can not distinguish between single and double click.

try double clicking on SE38 DISPALY or CHANGE Buttons they also respond and it will not give you a message saying DON'T DOUBLE CLICK ME etc.

this is to best of my knowledge.

What you said seems to be correct. It is responding to the initial single click only.

But I don't understand one point. If I have set in the attributes 'Respond to Double-click', why is it still responding to single click also with the same ok_code.

If the text button responds to both single click and double click also then what is the importance of the attribute 'Respond to Double-click' and how do we distinguish if the event is a double click.

Anyone pls. let me know how do I proceed regarding this. My requirement is to have a screen element which will respond to double click.

Hi Priya,

which version you are using.

i have checked in ecc6.0 the check box respond to double click has been desabled for push buttons and is open for input fields.

if you are using older versions then they might have fixed it.

please check it.

Hi,

I am using version 4.7.

In my version also, for Push buttons 'Responds to double-click' attribute is disabled and it is enabled for 'Text' and 'Input/Output' fields. So, as my requirment is to have a screen element that responds to double-click, I have selected 'Text' element and set the attribute 'Responds to double-click' and in GUI stautus under F2, I have set it to 'PICK' and changed the logic to repond if ok_code is 'PICK'.

But the pbm is for single click also ok_code = 'PICK'.

Hi vishnu priya,

Remove that Respond to double click from its attributes and go with the same procedure...

When u use respond to double click a Hot Spot will be created for that particular text element and it will respond to single click it self.

So remove Respond to double click and Contine the same procedure..

It will work,
