Difference between Visual Administrator Security and Useradmin Security

HI,

We can configure security roles and groups through http://<server>:<port>/useradmin as well as Visual administrator also.

What is the difference between these two.

Because in Visual admin server-> services-> security provider in Policy configuration there is one component sap.com/com.sap.lcr*sld.

Inside in security roles it is showing the various security roles like

LcrAdministrator, LcrInstanceWriterAll, LcrInstanceWriterNR, LcrInstanceWriterCR

and 2-3 more roles.

But when i access it through above url, it is showing only two roles

LcrAdministrator, LcrInstanceWriterAll

I can't see the other roles.

So, what's the problem?

Also when I assign a security role to Group in Visual Admin, it does not appear in useradmin.

Can anybody explain, do I need to configure any setting in order to get same data at both of the places?

Thanks,

Prasad

Hi Prasad,

in the online help, there is a great overview about the different capabilities of the visual admin security provider service and the usermanagement application under

User and Authorization administration tools.

If you are talking about security roles, are you talking about the J2EE security roles ? In the usermanagement app you will only see the mapped roles. The rolemapping is done in the visual admin. So maybe this is the explanation.

Patrick
