difference between user-exit and substitutuions(GGB1)

hi,

i was just checking out substitution. I could not understand why is it required we do have user exits and BADIs. is this required for any specific purpose.

We can use Substitutions to Validate most of the Fi related transactions.

This is not possible using Exits for some of the cases.

Also Substitutions are used to populate automatically some fìelds when a

FI document is being posted or updated.

This will give you more info.
