Hi,
UOM is nothing but unit of measurement for that particular material like PC,Kg,Lit etc.
In CUNI transaction you can create new UOM.
SPRO - General Settings - Check units of measurement

Hi,
UOM is a value used to determine the size of a quantity of material.
Units of measure in the SAP System include:
Base unit of measure
Unit of entry
Unit of issue
Order unit
Sales unit
Base UOM is an amount in which the stock of a material is managed.
The system converts all quantities entered in other units to the base unit of measure. In Inventory Management, the base unit is the same as the stockkeeping unit.

Hi Guruvulu,
I will give you a simple example which differentiates between UOM and Base UOM.
Supppose are procuring steel from a Venor and you have defined your Base UOM as meters.
Now your vendor uses a different measuring unit. He converts meters into weight and delivers the material in Tonnes. So, here your UOM is Meter, your vendor UOM is tonnes and the Base UOM is meters as defined by you.
I hope this answers your questions.

Hi guruvulu,
1. Hi, in purchase order , we have to specify the uom,
in which we want to place order.
2. So in that case, since the delivery of material is in
vendor uom, we have to specify vendor uom.
In other words, it is called "Purchase Order Unit of Measure",
or the field BSTME in MARA Table.
