You need to get the access key in order to change the Short text of any standard data element

or

You can change the texts for the underlying data element as follows:

CMOD -> Goto -> Text enhancements -> Keywords -> Change -> <Enter the name of the data element you wish to change texts for matnr>

Change and save the texts.
