Data migration

hi, there r different data migration techniques like bdc, lsmw, rfc, ale, edi, bapi n its can anyone clarify where exactly v have to use the proper method from this list

i mean for which specific case v have to use specific method. thanks in advance.

Well, I would start with LSMW. There are many pre-defined programs delivered by SAP to help you migrate the data. If there is no LSMW routine for you purpose, then I would go with BDC and/or BAPI. I haven't ever wored with IDOCs, so I don't know how they would fit in to the mix.

SAP also releases different migration tools.. And these tools used directly for OS/DB migration. These tools will migrate the data automatically from source to target systems.

But one has to be trained and certified to use these tools.

If we are not aware of these tools then treat the source system as a legacy system and migrate data using standard tools like BDC, LSMW
