Hi Experts,
This is a peculiar problem, i am downloading the data from the ouput of a classical report to excel.
when ever i open the downloaded excel sheet, data in some cells is getting converted to date format even though the data is not the date. Actually the data is the BIN NUMBER.
For example: if the data is 12-05-01, it is shown as 12/05/2001 in the excel sheet.
How can i solve this problem..
Regards,
Arun

As mentioned above it is excel data formating problem. if it is a one time download file you can try this way... Instead of opening the file directly by double clicking on it... it might work...
Open the excel application (Run -> Excel)
Now Click on Open and a popup will open to select the file
Select the file you have downloaded
Text Import Wizard will open. In step 3 you can choose the column and define the data format as text.
Hope this is helpful.
Thanks,
Pavan

As he said, it's a standard excel formatting.
Two choices:
1) If you are not using ole/2 use it, but I guess it would take more time.
2) If there is notting against that, put a character like a dot at the end or begin of the date fiel (.12-05-01) and excel will treat it like a string
