Hi all,
Can any one give a clear idea about how to select a suitable exit for a particular transaction. Some people say, its through experience, we will be learning to select the exits. But there must be atleast some proper way to do this selection. Kindly explain.

Hi Saravan,
We can proceed with the following ways
First we need to find the userexit/badi listings for a required transaction
(1) Finding an exit by checking for call customer function module in the main program
(2) use cl_exithandler in se24, in method get instance ,debugg at the statement 'If sy-subrc = 0' .Run the required t-code and check for exit_name to find badi once we enter the debugger
(3)In some cases in transaction 'SPRO' under the particular module and functionality we can see the exits/badis available listed
(4) using the custom program to view the exits/badis for a particular transaction
(5) We can also use ST05 Trace to find BADIs for a transaction
Secondly,we need to filter from the exits listed the one we need. For this do the following
(1) Check the description of the exit/badi or read it's documentation
(2) View the import/export parameters and see if they suit your requirement
Once this is done we can understand if the exits found will suit our needs or not
Finally if no exits/badis are available ,check for enhancement points in the standard SAP program by going into the program editor and checking for "Enhancement point" keyword in the required section(this is called explicit enhancement). Also we can check "Edit-Enhancement operations-> show implicit enhancements" which will be highlighted ..here we can write our code provided it is the required area...
Please bear in mind that the above mentioned are not guidelines and also that enhancements/exits may not always be available for a specific requirement or program

Hi Rajan,
For a example if we want to know the exits for SD.Go for
Tcode SPRO, from there go for sales and distribution tab.
In that select System modification tab. Here we can have
Userexits, BADI's.Once select the tab user exit we can see different user exits for different scenarios.
Once go through the documentation in it.
It will help you.
Thanks,
Ram

Hi,
If you want to know the exits of a particular transaction then firstly see the package name of that transaction by going to system<status<transaction<double click on it. Then you will get package name. copy that package name.
Now go to SMOD and give F4 Help then click on Information system ang give your package name and execute it. Then you will get list of Components. Choose any one based upon your requirement by seeing discription or by documentation. Double click on the component and choose display you will get list of Exits. Now based upon your requirement if morethan one exit is there choose any one by seeing documentation.
If this is not clear please ask me.
Please reward points if helpful.
