Converting an exponential value in string to decimal

Hi Experts,

Hi I have the value '6.3000000000000000E+01' in a data type 'CHAR30' field.  Can anyone help me converting it to decimal or packed decimal. The value should be read as 63. If you are suggesting conversion routines, please suggest the routines from APO system since I am working SAP SCM 7.0.
