Hi All,

i am facing a weird issue.. i have developed a program (DEV) from scratch and trnsaported to another client ( TST)and got some changes and done the changes in DEV and again transported to it TST.so i got totally two transports and two versions.

But when i check the code all my changes were missing and only myold code is available..i have done version comparision Between DEV and TST and DEV and DEV ,Only my old code is there all my new code changes were missign.

Anyof you peoples came across such issues ??

Thx in advance.

Regards,

Arun.

Where is it missing, I assume in TST only?

Check the import history in TST, maybe transport 2 ended with errors or transport 1 was imported (again) after transport 2.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your reply.

I have checked in both the systems DEV as well as TST .Its missing in both the clients.

I doubted as i have mistakenly clicked the retrieve option instead compare in that case also a local copy of the active version would be available.

All transports logs are fine.

I donno where exactly i missed the code.

Thanks,

Arun.

Well, now it sounds that you accidentally retrieved the old version and transported that one...you might have to redo the changes and transport again, I'm afraid.

Hi Thomas,

What i am saying is i havent done that mistake accidently..if i would have done that also, a local copy 'U' would be available in the version data base its not available there..

All my code changes got over written with the old contents..any ideas plzz.

tnx,

Arun.

You said you did a version comparison between clients, but did you compare the versions of the 2 transports? That would tell you if you actually had changes in the 2nd transport. If so, you can revert to that version if those changes are somehow missing and re-import in your test client. My guess is that Thomas is correct - if there was no import error and you don't have a new transport or local copy, then you must have either not saved your changes or you retrieved the previous version before the 2nd transport was released.

Ok, but you didn't really answer the question or read my comments. If you tested your changes, then the changes are definitely in the second transport. Re-import that transport into your test system to get them back. If it's not still in the buffer, re-add it to the buffer. Revert to that version in your dev system.

> You said you did a version comparison between clients, but did you compare the versions of the 2 transports?

I have done the version comarision both are same ie new changes are not there

My guess is that Thomas is correct - if there was no import error and you don't have a new transport or local copy, then you must have either not saved your changes or you retrieved the previous version before the 2nd transport was released.

Even though if i retrieved the previous version before the second transport release what ever changes i have done till that point it would be availbe as a local copy 'U' in the version comparision,Its not there

Any more ideas please..

Thanks,

Arun.

I'm not so sure about the local copy "U", it might get deleted once you release the subsequent transport.

Try to re-construct the scenario and let us know.

My bet is you retrieved the first version, released and transported identical code as in the first version, and can't find the "U" version any more -> back to start, sorry.

Hi Thomas and florian,

While analysing the issue only first time i see the pop up comes while we use the retrieve option, i am pretty sure i havent done that ( What i mean is retrieve the old version) and more over i am the only developer involved in this ..i am checked all the possible scenarios nothing falling in my place.

And the most weird part is i have sent two more objects so total three with the same request and for tht i am able to c the version difference for the rest two :(..

any luck ??

Thanks

Arun.

1) Compare the versions in your DEV system (not between DEV and TST). If you see code difference, your second transport had the changes. if there is no code difference, it needs to be redone.

2) Generate the program from se38. Sometimes its buffer issue.

Let us know the mystery once you solve it.

I don't think you're going to get an answer - we've given you the possible (primary) ways this can happen. It doesn't happen by itself. Some action occurred that wiped out your changes but without being able to see it or analyze it for ourselves, there's no way to determine it. I'm still puzzled by your comment that you tested your changes, presumably in your test client, but the two transports showed no differences in a version management compare. That doesn't make sense.

Hi Everyone,

It was the weird problem i have ever come across and the mystery still continues and i have downloaded version of my changes in my local drive and i imported it back to my original program.

But i am pretty sure none of my action triggered the changes to vanish ,due to the time frame i dont have any other chance other than meeting the delivery .so couldnt waste my time any more..

If any one come across such issues in the future please contact SAP about this.

Thanks,

Arun.

are maybe MORE than one developer involved?

Cause if another developer uses the same object he might have it in his workstock, which would end up in you seeing YOUR workstock which is maybe an old version.

Had this some days ago myself an wodered where my changes were...

But well thats rather a display issue i guess if i transported it all would have been fine.
