The clients vary from one organisation to other. Its not standard. You can have as many clients as possible, One for configuration, One for development etc.

In Dev you can have different clients, same in Quality, and other test systems.

Hello Akash

I have worked as consultant for some customer where they had different DEV clients for customizing and ABAP development. This separation makes sense if you have some test data available on your development systems.

The advantage of this separation is that you can develop in an environment where the client-dependent customizing remains stable (at least for some time).

Uwe

It all depends ..

but most of the time Development system may contain two clients .

1. ABAP Development

2. customization ( SPRO Transaction)

Thanks

Most sites I work at currently will have at least 3 Dev clients, but I have been at sites with lots more... Typical ones are "Master" (where config and coding is done, and most transports are created), a Unit Test client (to proof the work done in the "master" client), and a "Sandpit" for trying new ideas out. Sometimes new clients get create for specific projects so that new business scenarios can be proofed in Development, or external systems integrated with a specific set of configuration and data.
