Characteristics Dependency

Is there any BAPI/Function Module/Method to Emulate Dependency of Characteristics?

I know that the FM CARD_DEPENDENCY_READ gives me the dependency code. But In my Custom Application, I want to replicate the dependency as I see in IE02 for Characteristics. Is there any way?

Hi Jim,

I worked with characteristics dependency last year. If you can give me your e-mail id, I can start with sending you a document where I documented what I did. Not sure whether that will help you immensely, but probably will be something worthwhile to look at. I was working with transaction CG02. Afterwards, I will try to answer your specific questions.

Good day,

I hope you can help me. The problem I have is fairly irritating. I have battled with it for quite some time and I am at ends meet.

I created a class

Then I created some characteristics, with their respective values.

I want to now use Dependencies to display a characteristic value based om a prior selection.

I am using this functionality in SAP Document Management.

E.g.

Characteristic = Ownership

Characteristic Value = “Operations” and “Management”

Each of these in turn have hierarchial values

In effect, if in DMS I thus choose Operations as my Characteristic Value then it should show me an additional selection dropdown, for the values I assigned to “Operations and vice versa if I select Management, it should hide the Operations information

I know this is possible but I am having trouble with the dependency editor (Some basic coding is required)

If anyone could help, I would appreciate it immensely.

Thanks

Hi,

did you find a solution for your problem?

I'm facing the same issue right now and I could really use some help...

How can I use the dependency editor?

I found a solution

You have to type in the subordinate field

subprocess EQ 'characteristic value'
