I have one ztable with a x field of 20 length. This table was populated by one extractor which may some times has a length 30 for that x field. So the text was saved only upto 20 length.Ztable contains lot of production datas and this table was used by lot of other programs. I want to change the field length to 30. How can i do?

Hi,

You can change the field length to 30. Recreate the table maintainance and activate and adjust DB using SE14.

No problem, You can go ahead and change the field lenght. If the table is having table maintenance you need to create new table maintenance for it.

But it won't affect the existing data.

Hi

In Se11 change the lenghht of ur field to the required length .

After that dont forget to Activate and Adjust Table in Se14..

If TMG available , you need to regenerate it ..

Thanks.

Hi MURUGESH,

First u change ur field's domain length. Then thru SE14 data base utility u have to adjust the database & activate the same. Or from SE11 open the ZTable, from menu bar Utilities===> Database utility u can adjust the database.

Reward pts if it is helpfull.

Hi,

Change the length of the field to desired. Save and Activate the table.

Once activated go to SE14, give the table name and select the radio button "Adjust database".

Thanks,

Sri.
