Change Pointers

Hi,

I would like to know if change pointers are effective during deletion.For example, I have a PO with two line items and I need the change to trigger Idocs when a line item is deleted,is this possible using change pointers?Or are cahnge pointers only effective when line item quatity etc are changed?

This is more like example of event triggering or using enhancement/exits. Change pointer is basically for individual field.
