Change a method in BOR

Hi Experts,

I have an already existing Object Type. I need to change a method to add some more logic to it.

I am little confused about the stpes I need to follow.

There are three things basically.

1. Implement

2. Release

3. Generate

Some say first you set the status of the object type to implement, Release and then generate. Some say set both the status of Object type component and Object type to implement, Release and then generate.

Some say implement, Generate and then release. I am totally confused about the sequence of the steps for these.

While we change an IDOC segment, we first cancel the release, change the segment and then release it. Do I need to do something here before I change the method?? Please advise.

My Guess is I should do like as below.

1. Go to SWO1 in Change mode.

2. Add the logic to the method.

3. Set the status of the object type component to implemented

3. Set the status of the object type to implemented

4. then Generate

5.Set the status of the object type component to released

6. Set the status of the object type to released

Could you please correct me or provide the detail stpes that I need to follow?
