Hello Kit

If the transaction displays the batch number as part of the message shown in the status bar then you should be able to catch it.

I would recommend two things:

(1) Use <b>eCATT </b>instead of CATT (requires SAP system >= 6.20)

(2) Having eCATT available use the <b>MESSAGE...ENDMASSAGE</b> pattern.

Example:

MESSAGE ( MSG_1 ).
  TCD(VA01, VA01_1).
ENDMESSAGE ( E_MSG_1 ).

Within MSG_1 you define which messages you expect and whether they are required or not. E_MSG_1 contains the collected messages which you can evaluate.

Thanks for your reply. I'm using 4.6c and only see the batch number is appear in the text field. So, there is no message prompted.

Hello Kit

Do you have any SAP system (>= 6.20 basis release) available in your system landscape?

If so then all you need to use eCATT is a RFC destination from this system to your 4.6c system where you do the scripting.

Please note that transaction SECATT enables you to migrate old CATTs to eCATTs.

However, if you have no chance to switch to eCATT I would recommend to look for a <b>function module</b> (or <b>BAPI</b>) which reads the newly created business object/document and which returns you the required batch number.

Uwe

Thx for your suggestion.

I have tried to call the BAPI_GOODSMVT_GETDETAIL in my test case with parameter defined. But, it always return:

The call to the function module "BAPI_GOODSMVT_GETDETAIL" is incorrect:

The function module interface allows you to specify only fields

of a particular type under "MATDOCUMENTYEAR". The field "&MATDOCUMENTYEAR"

specified here

has a different field type.
