C_S4HDEV1909 Expression-based ABAP syntax

Hi all,

I am studying for the C_S4HDEV1909 certification. The first topic area is Expression-based ABAP syntax, Use expression-based syntax for string processing, constructing objects and values, and assigning values.

Can anyone provide a link to study material or something that explains what expression-based is? Looking online I am not confident I am following the right path, since I do not understand what expression-based is.

Thanks

Hi Mike,

I am also learning currently to get the same certificate. I have access to SAP Learning Hub to directly have access on the related SAP courses.

As you might kno already, this is the related course of SAP which includes all the relevant contents:

https://training.sap.com/course/d75aw-delta-abap-workbench-sap-netweaver-70-to-sap-netweaver-751-cla...?

There you can also get the table of content to have the option to search for this topics in case that you don't have access to SAP Learning Hub.

Some more ressources about this can be found in these blogs:
https://blogs.sap.com/2016/03/02/old-and-new-abap-syntax-overview-sheet/
https://blogs.sap.com/2016/11/04/abap-news-for-release-7.51/
https://blogs.sap.com/2015/11/27/abap-language-news-for-release-750/
https://blogs.sap.com/2015/10/25/abap-740-quick-reference/

Regarding expression-based syntax, here a screenshot from Horst Keller out of one of his blogs. That explains the difference between the classical ABAP and the new expression-based syntax (based on the READ TABLE-statement)

The number of possible expressions in ABAP is growing with each release cycle. So please check the mentioned blog articles and you get an idea of all the new stuff in ABAP 🙂

I hope this helps you.
Good luck & happy learning.

Kind regards
Jens
