BTE Vs BADI

Hi All,

Can someone explain the below 2 point s about BTE and BADI difference,

  1. BTE’s can only be used to make the program enhancements. You cannot enhance user interface with Open FI, but you can with Business Add-ins.
  2. Open FI assumes that enhancement can only take place on three levels i.e. SAP- partners – customers, but in case of BAdi’s you can create and implement enhancements in as many software layers as you like.

In point 1 - What is meant by enhanceing user interface

In Point 2 - How are those three levels differentiated?

Hi Kannan,

point No 1: is everything designed into an information device with which a human being may interact!

                  This is not possible in case of BTE. You can't design own screens or graphical user interface elements by using BTE's. This is the old enhancement technique in SAP. Only one implementation possible ! Incase of BADI's this is possible.

2.  BTEs can be used both by SAP, third party vendors and customers. Each uses their own function modules where the logic is placed, so they don't interfere with each other. if you want to check the detailed procedure of BTE( txn FIBF). in other words clear separation of FM's for each partners.
