Hello..

Posting date: the date on which the document will take effect in the business.

It might be different than the entry date.

Clearing Date: the date on which the open item (from a document) was cleared.

In BSIS, you will not able to see any record with the clearing date filled. Because, when the clearing happens, the closed items are removed from BSIS and they go to BSAS. If any residual is there, you will find the trail in the BSIS.

Naimesh,

Thank you for your response. Still one doubt what is meant by "the document will take effect in the business." and then what is entry date?

and one more thing, why then SAP has included 'Clearing date' as one of the key fields?

Hello...

Posting date means on that date, that amount will affect the Balance sheets and all other company's finacial documents.

Entry date is the date on which the document is entered.
