BDC template

I want to know, generally template (for master data upload using BDC) is given to user before BDC creation or after BDC creation?

If it is given before BDC creation by abaper,how functional consultant will decide the format of template?

hi,

template is nothing but the fields tht u hav to fill in ur flatfile for tht particular transaction. the template fields r given in the order based on the recording thy hav done .so abap consultant can give the template after completing recording tht is before doing bdc programming.
