BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE/BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2 change characteristics value problem

Any idea that using above FM to change a characteristics value will empty out other characteristics value. I pass in parameters into the following, characteristics value is added/change after I call the FM, but other characteristics value not pass it become empty, any idea on what caused this and to not affect those as well?? Thanks you,
