How can the BAPI function module BAPI_PAYM_ITEM_POST_ITEM be used for postings instead of F9I4 transcation?

What is the purpose of the function modules BAPI_PAYM_ITEM_POST_SENDER, BAPI_PAYM_ITEM_POST_RECEIVER?
