Hi,
this is an issue regarding filter in ALV grid display.
suppose i have a field country with 3 values india,USA and Germany.
and i set the filter like G* to U*.... it displays the values GErmany and INdia.. but not USA.
But if in the filter condition,i give germany to USA it displays all the three entries.
Can anybody give me the solution,so that if the client gives G* to U* he should be able to see all the entries.
p.s: it happens for all the standard programs also.
Thanks and regards,
Pankaj Singh

Hi Pankaj Singh,
When u set the Filter Select options it will take the range excluding the given values.
for eg:
if you give G* to U* the result of countries which start with I to T will come in the output.
So for your requirement give G* to V* you will get the required output

but if i give germany to USA it displays all the three,
i cant say my client to give one character ahead of what is required(G* to V* for this case).
can you tell me which event is responsible for this.. and where this functionality for patterns exists for filter.

Hey Pankaj,
Have you set the "lowercase" property at the field catalog? If you haven't ALV expects everything to be in uppercase.

you can take any alv standard program..or develop your own alv grid program
and see it doesnt work in such cases.. it doesnt work i know..i just wanted to know where the functionality for giving pattern inputs exists.
