Accessing data of another application server

Hi,

Suppose we are working on an application server and we also need some data from another application server . How to access that data which is in another appl server without using RFC ???

Question is , there should be some way to connect to the other application server, to get access to the data.

RFCs are one of the options.

It is not possible to get the same without a RFC connection between them.
