ABAP Version Control

Hi, I know there is version control for ABAP programs and I can create a version manually. I think there is also functionality that a version gets created when you transport.

Is there a configuration that turns on/off automatic versioning when transporting?

don't actually know if it is an option but everywhere I've ever worked has had version control turned on for transports in the development environment and usually no version control in the other environments.

It might be a basis option but I can't think why you would ever want to turn it OFF in development.
